How to play tennis

You wear sports clothes and trainers.

You go to a tennis court. People usually play tennis outside, at a sports centre or tennis club.

You can play with two or four players. The players (or pairs of players) stand on opposite sides of the net.

The players all have tennis rackets.

The first player throws the ball into the air, then hits it with the racket. The players hit the ball to each other across the net.

The players have to run very fast to hit the ball.

When a player can’t hit the ball and it lands in the court, the other player usually wins a point.

The player with the most points wins the match.
