Christmas is a time that unites families. Celebrating Christmas includes a Christmas dinner and listening to the Queen’s Christmas speech, when the Queen speaks to her people on TV and on the radio.
There are many royal traditions in Britain. The Queen’s telegram is not a very old custom, but it is very important for old people. Every British person gets a telegram on their one-hundredth anniversary. In 2006 the Queen had her 80th birthday. The day is marked by fireworks and parades.
The Changing of the Guard is a very beautiful tradition. Every morning tourists go to watch the ceremony at Buckingham Palace. At 11.30 the guard that stands in front of the palace changes.
