I’m glad to hear you want me to tell you more about the carnival. This traditional celebration takes place every year during the months of January and February and lasts for 17 days.

To prepare for the carnival, people build a(n) special Ice Palace for the festival’s mascot, Bonhomme. He is a(n) cheerful snowman that wears a red hat and a traditional belt. During the festival, people take part in exciting events. They enjoy sculpture making, canoe racing along the St Lawrence River, dog sled racing and, of course, watching the carnival parades with their brightly-decorated floats.

I’m planning to dress up this year. It’s tradition to wear something red and a belt like Bonhomme. People also blow loudly into long horns.

The Quebec Winter Carnival is the world’s largest winter festival and I think it is the best in the world! I really love going. It’s nice that you are going on a skiing holiday this year. I also enjoy skiing. When is your holiday? Where are you going? What other things do you like to do there?
