What Janet, Betsy and Mike think about buying things:

Janet: She hates shopping because she can never choose what she really wants. Things are either too small, too big, too expensive, or too cheap but horrible. She dislikes bright and boring clothes. Yesterday, she couldn't find anything good and didn't know what to buy. She feels she is too young to buy things without her mum's help.

Mike: He doesn't think he enjoys shopping, but he can choose things. His mum may advise, but she never says "No!". He doesn't buy jackets, shoes, and other expensive things without his parents. Last Sunday, his mum bought him a pair of nice shoes at Camden Market. He can only buy food and sometimes goes to the grocer's and buys vegetables and fruit there.
