17. Memorize the following information. THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION FACULTY The Faculty of Physical Education was created in 2009 as a result of reorganization of the Faculty of National Culture. At present there are three Departments at the Faculty: 1. Theory and Methods of Physical Education, 2. Sports and Pedagogical Disciplines, 3.Medical and Biological Basis of Physical Education and Training Practical Laboratory of Physical Culture. More than 70 lecturers and teaching staff work at the Departments. Among them there are Doctors and PhDs, Professors and Associate Professors, Honoured coaches, winners and prize- winners of Championships of the World, Europe, World Cup, International Masters of Sports, Masters of Sports. The Faculty also offers postgraduate studies. The Faculty is proud of the students and graduates who defend the honour of our country at the Olympic Games, the World and European Championships, World Cups. More than 60 students are members of national and picked teams of the Republic of Belarus in different kinds of sport. More than 1500 intramural and extramural students get education in the following specialties: • Physical Education, Tourist and Recreational Activities. • Recreational and Adapted Physical Education (recreational training) • Physical Education (therapeutic) • Sports and Pedagogical Activities (sports and art direction) • Sporting and Tourist Activities (tourism management) The content of teaching and scientific work of the Faculty is regulated by the activity of the Departments. One of the important aspects of the Faculty's work is extracurricular activities: participation in different kinds of sports competitions, holding public sport and recreation events, classes on sport skills improvement, work in sports sections.
