To match gaps (1-4) in the text with sentences (A-E), one should consider:

1. Does it make sense grammatically and logically?
2. Does it fit grammatically (tense, pronouns, singular/plural, this/that)?
3. Does it match the topic of the paragraph?

Note: There is one extra sentence that does not fit any of the gaps.
