Hi, we live in a modern house (18 months old) and so far we have had no problems at all. Any little things that needed doing have been done straight away by the building company. When we first decided to move, we were looking at big old houses as we needed space and lots of it. Most new ones looked like matchboxes, with tiny rooms and corridors that you couldn't turn around in. Then we found this one – brand new with massive rooms, high ceilings and a huge hall. Very spacious. The period house we came from was old – it was a detached Victorian house. It needed a lot of repairs. The cost of the upkeep was always more than we had expected.

1) modern; 2) space; 3) spacious; 4) period; 5) repairs; 6) upkeep.
