In the sixteenth century, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan led the first expedition to sail around the world. He has ridden across America and Australia, but he has been to Europe or Asia. On his American trip in 2007, he survived freezing temperatures during an ice storm in Oklahoma, met a grizzly bear in the Rocky Mountains, rode through Manhattan to see the Statue of Liberty, and he has been even a guest at the White House! Ezra has raised a lot of money for children's charities. He has started writing a book about his expedition.
