Translation of the task:

St Petersburg was founded in 1703. In 1712 the capital was moved there, and the city became the home of the Russian tsars. It began to grow fast. Peter the Great named the city after himself. In 1914 its name changed to Petrograd, then to Leningrad, and it became St Petersburg again. The city is situated on the banks of the Neva River, near the Baltic Sea. Strong winds blow from the sea, bringing cold and rainy weather. There are not many sunny days, and autumns and winters are unpleasant. St Petersburg is famous for its beauty, the monument to Peter the Great, 342 bridges, the Winter Palace and Dvortsovaya Square, the Summer Garden, theatres, museums and picture galleries.
