Dear Ben,

Thanks for your email. Your trip to China sounds amazing! The most popular holidays in Russia are New Year, Victory Day and Maslenitsa. New Year is my favourite holiday because it is joyful and brings the whole family together. We usually decorate a Christmas tree, cook a festive dinner and exchange presents at midnight. We also watch fireworks and make wishes for the coming year. On New Year’s Day, I visit my grandparents and go for a walk with my friends. I would love to see people celebrating the Chinese New Year in colourful dragon costumes. What other interesting traditions did you see in China?

Write back soon.
Best wishes,
Alex
