Most of the passengers either read, use their phones silently, or simply enjoy the ride. At first it was hard for me not to talk, as I'm used to chatting with friends or family on public transport. But soon I realised how relaxing it was to travel in such a calm atmosphere. One of my favourite experiences was enjoying a traditional tea ceremony. My host family invited me to try it, and it wasn't just about drinking tea - it was a slow, thoughtful ritual that focused on respect and mindfulness. We sat on tatami mats and enjoyed matcha tea with beautiful small sweets. It was such a peaceful and unique moment that I would never forget. Overall, my trip to Japan taught me so much about respect, organisation, and mindfulness. I fell in love with the culture and hope to carry some of these values with me in my daily life. A.
