When she was six she met Anne Sallivan and from then on she became Helen's teacher and later her friend. Anne taught Helen how to communicate with tactile sign language. Eventually the girl could connect the words and the they symbolised. That was a huge step forward for Helen. Helen Keller graduated from Radcliffe College of Harvard University. She was the first deaf and blind person to get a Bachelor of Arts degree. She became an inspiration and a symbol of hope for thousands of people with disabilities all over the world. Her story is another that people who are deafblind can communicate and live a full life.
