Getting on
More and more people give up jobs and retire early because they hate the rat-race.
So, what are people doing with their time? Many people are taking up new hobbies or learning new skills. Some are travelling the world, visiting places they have only dreamed of. Others are spending more time with their families and friends. And of course, some people are returning to education, perhaps to start a new career or to learn something new. Some people are writing books, painting pictures, or playing music. Others are spending time with their families and friends. Some people are doing voluntary work. Some people are travelling the world, visiting places they have only dreamed of.
Gill Yates and her husband, Jim, decided to give up their jobs and retire early. 'We were both working too hard and felt stressed all the time,' says Gill. 'We wanted to have more time for ourselves and to do the things we had always dreamed of doing. So, we decided to sell our house and buy a caravan. We are now travelling all over the country, visiting places we have only dreamed of. We have also taken up hobbies we never had time for before, like painting and gardening. We are enjoying our retirement and we feel much happier and healthier than before. We decided to sell our house and buy a caravan. We are now travelling all over the country, visiting places we have only dreamed of.
