Exercise 3.2: Fill in the blanks for retelling practice

Cars burn petrol. Factories and power stations burn coal and emit toxic fumes.
The air becomes polluted. The pollution gathers in clouds and with oxygen and water in the atmosphere. When it rains, the polluted clouds far away. When it lands, it becomes acid. Winds carry the pollution on trees, buildings, cars, and everywhere. This is called acid rain.
It also causes water pollution. Acid rain kills or wipes out fish and harms trees and plants. It also causes serious damage to buildings. The good news is that governments are trying to reduce air pollution. Some industries use new technologies. We can help by using our cars less and by using solar power to heat our homes.
