The City of Omsk

1. Everyone knows about the stunning sights to see in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
2. The beautiful city of Omsk, one of the oldest cities in western Siberia, is not so well-known.
3. Unfortunately, the 2,700 km journey from Moscow just seems too far for many travellers to Russia.
4. For those who do travel there, however, there are a number of interesting things to see and do.
5. These include visiting the Tobolskie and Tarskie Gates, which were the first stone buildings in Omsk, the Museum of Local Lore and the modern shops on Lyubinsky Avenue.
6. When you see Krestovozdvizhensky Cathedral lit up in the moonlight, you understand why it's worth making the effort to come here.
7. Few historians disagree with Omsk's historical importance - it was even the capital of Russia for a short period at the beginning of the 20th century.
8. As travelling across Russia becomes easier, it seems like Omsk may also have a bright future - as a popular destination for tourists.
