To answer your questions: Some people might not want pets because of allergies, time constraints, or financial reasons. As for exotic pets, I'm not really a fan of keeping spiders or snakes. I think some animals are better off in their natural habitats. Here in Russia, dogs and cats are definitely the most popular pets, but you also see a lot of birds and fish.
