Past Simple of Regular Verbs
To form the Past Simple of regular verbs, we usually add '-ed' to the base form of the verb. However, there are some spelling rules to consider:
- If the verb ends in '-e', just add '-d'.
- If the verb ends in a consonant followed by '-y', change the 'y' to 'i' and add '-ed'.
- If the verb ends in a consonant-vowel-consonant pattern (CVC), double the final consonant and add '-ed' (unless the final consonant is w, x, or y).
