Alexander of Macedonia, also known as Alexander the Great, was a king of the ancient Greek Kingdom of Macedon. He was a military commander, a politician, a scholar and an explorer who created an empire that covered around two million square miles.

The future king was born in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He had a good education, and his teacher was a famous philosopher Aristotle. Alexander was interested in science, philosophy and arts. But his main interest was in military strategy. When he became a king, he began to expand the Greek empire. He defeated the strongest army of Persia and conquered the Persian Empire from Egypt to the borders of India.

Alexander the Great never lost a single battle. He died at the age of 32 but managed to do a lot during his life which changed history forever.
