For a long time Sharon Sadler has had a dream about playing in a big orchestra. Now her dream is coming true. At the age of 15, Sharon has just become the youngest member of the Brighton Orchestra.
Sharon has played the violin since she was five years old and she has studied with her teacher, Janet Chandler, for eight years. 'Sharon was a brilliant player even when she was a little girl,' Mrs Chandler said. 'But she's also worked incredibly hard. She's practised regularly for several hours every day and she's done her normal school work as well. Everyone's very proud of her.'
Sharon has been a star in the orchestra at the Kingsgate Music School since she joined it three years ago. She has performed in lots of local concerts and she won the Young Musicians competition last May. For the competition, she has appeared several times on national television.
Sharon is beginning her work with the Brighton Orchestra next month. She has got special permission to be out of school when the orchestra is practising. 'It's so exciting,' Sharon said. 'This has been my ambition for years. It's hard to believe it's really happening.' She's a young person with a great future. We wish her lots of success in her career.
