1. Floods happen when there is more water in a river or lake than that body of water can handle. This extra water then spills out onto the land causing a disaster.
2. Flood waters destroy everything in their path: buildings, bridges, roadways etc. Entire crops can be ruined and people and animals can be trapped.
3. Economic difficulties can be felt for years. Those who stay have to suffer to spend a lot of money to rebuild their houses.
