Felix Baumgartner is 43 years old and he has jumped from the tops of mountains and some of the tallest buildings in the world. On 24th October 2012, he jumped from the highest place above the Earth.
A balloon carried him to a height of 39 kilometres above the surface of the Earth.
From his special capsule, Baumgartner could see the Earth really well before he jumped back to Earth. The jump took him ten minutes. On the way down, he travelled at a speed of 1,342 kilometres an hour.
He fell for four minutes twenty seconds before he opened his parachute.
Felix Baumgartner now has the world record for the highest place above the Earth. Before Baumgartner, Joe Kittinger had the record.
Kittinger is in his eighties now and he worked with Baumgartner. After the jump, Kittinger said: 'Felix did a great job.'
