The history of the computer began many years ago. At the end of the Middle Ages people started thinking maths and engineering were important. In 1623 Wilhelm Schickard A _________ a mechanical calculator. Other scientists started to make more calculators after him. They were not modern computers because they could only add, subtract, and multiply. Charles Babbage wanted to make a machine that could calculate. He called it "The Analytical Engine".
