Hi John!

Thank you so much for your letter! I was really happy to hear from you. It’s so cool that you are interested in Russia!

You asked me about national holidays. My favorite one is New Year. We celebrate it on January 1st. It’s a magical time when we decorate a Christmas tree, give presents and have a festive dinner with family and friends. Also, I really enjoy celebrating Maslenitsa. We make pancakes and burn a straw effigy of winter.

Speaking of traditions, one of the most famous is our hospitality. We always welcome guests with open arms and treat them to the best we have. Also, we love tea drinking. We usually drink tea from samovars with pies and bagels.

As for the places to visit, I highly recommend visiting Moscow. It’s a vibrant city with a rich history and culture. You can see the Kremlin, Red Square, and many beautiful churches and museums. If you like nature, you should definitely visit Lake Baikal. It’s the deepest lake in the world and the views are breathtaking!
