The steps to perform the work are:
- Examine the electric kettle. Determine the electrical power of the electrical appliance P according to the passport data.
- Pour water into the kettle with a volume V, equal to 1 liter or 1.5 liters.
- Use a thermometer to measure the initial water temperature t1.
- Turn on the kettle into the electrical network and heat the water to a boil.
- Determine the boiling temperature of water t2 from the table.
- Note the time interval Δt during which the water was heated.
- Using the measurement data, calculate:
- a) The work performed by the electric current, knowing the power of the kettle P and the water heating time Δt, using the formula:
$$A_{electric} = P \cdot \Delta t$$
- b) The amount of heat received by the water and equal to the useful work:
$$Q_{heated} = cm(t_2 - t_1)$$
- Calculate the efficiency of the electric kettle using the formula:
$$\eta = \frac{Q_{heated}}{A_{electric}} \cdot 100\% = \frac{cm(t_2 - t_1)}{P\Delta t} \cdot 100\%$$
- Record the measurement and calculation results in a table.
