Qin Shi Huang was the First Emperor of China. In ancient China, it was believed that the dead could take their possessions into the afterlife. Qin Shi Huang wanted to ensure he had his army with him, so he ordered the construction of an elaborate tomb guarded by a terracotta army, which took around 700,000 men to build.
