When you introduce yourself, you should smile, say your name and ask the other person’s name. You need to be friendly and polite. When you meet someone for the first time, you should shake hands or say hello.

To make friends, you should join a club, take part in activities and talk to your classmates or neighbours. You have to listen to people and show interest in their lives. You shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions.

When you go to someone’s house, you should arrive on time. You need to take off your shoes if the host asks you to. You should bring a small present, such as flowers or chocolates. You have to thank your host before you leave.

It is polite to say “please”, “thank you” and “sorry”. It is also polite to respect other people’s personal space and customs. It is impolite to be late without calling, speak loudly, interrupt people or use your phone during a meal.
