Thanks for your email! That’s awesome that your parents said you could get a pet for your birthday! I know how excited you must be! I think both cats and hamsters can be great pets, but they are very different. Cats are super independent and cuddly, which is nice, but hamsters are super low maintenance.

I've got a cat, and he's really sweet. He loves to play, but he also needs attention. Dogs can be a lot of work, so maybe you should start with something small!
