Your country is Canada, isn't it? (Твоя страна — Канада, не так ли?)

— It’s nice to meet you. Where are you from? (Приятно познакомиться. Откуда ты?)

— Oh! Try to guess what country I’m from. (О! Попробуй угадать, из какой я страны.)

— Are you from a large or a small country? (Ты из большой или маленькой страны?)

— Well, my country is very large. It occupies nearly a half of the continent. (Ну, моя страна очень большая. Она занимает почти половину континента.)

— Is it in Asia or in Europe? (Она в Азии или в Европе?)

— Neither. It’s in North America. (Ни там, ни там. Она в Северной Америке.)

— What is the climate like in your country? (Какой климат в твоей стране?)

— In winter it’s rather cold. It can be frosty and snowy, especially in the north of the country. And in summer it is warm and sometimes even hot. (Зимой довольно холодно. Бывает морозно и снежно, особенно на севере страны. А летом тепло и иногда даже жарко.)

— Are there any mountains, deserts, or lakes there? (Есть ли там горы, пустыни или озёра?)

— There are no deserts. My country is famous for its beautiful nature. There are mountains and forests and wonderful deep lakes. Have you ever heard about the Great Lakes? They are in my country. And the Niagara Falls are also there. I’m sure it’s one of the most beautiful views in the world. You should come and see it one day. (Там нет пустынь. Моя страна знаменита своей красивой природой. Там есть горы, леса и прекрасные глубокие озёра. Ты когда-нибудь слышал о Великих озёрах? Они находятся в моей стране. И Ниагарский водопад тоже там. Я уверен, это один из самых красивых видов в мире. Тебе стоит однажды приехать и увидеть это.)

— What languages do people speak in your country? (На каких языках говорят люди в твоей стране?)

— There are two state languages there — English and French. (Там два государственных языка — английский и французский.)

— I think I know what country you are from, but I’ll ask the last question to be sure. What is the capital of your country? Isn’t it Ottawa? (Думаю, я знаю, из какой ты страны, но задам последний вопрос, чтобы быть уверенным. Какова столица твоей страны? Это ведь Оттава?)

— Certainly, it is. It’s modern, but green. There are beautiful buildings there, lots of museums and art galleries. In Ottawa there are a lot of young people from all over the world, who come to study in colleges and universities there. (Конечно, это так. Она современная, но зелёная. Там красивые здания, много музеев и художественных галерей. В Оттаве много молодых людей со всего мира, которые приезжают учиться в колледжах и университетах.)
