1 — c) something; 2 — a) by; 3 — d) Avoid; 4 — d) do; 5 — a) over; 6 — c) up; 7 — c) way; 8 — c) increases.

Выражения something happens («что-то происходит»), by making generalisations («посредством обобщений»), avoid doing («избегать чего-либо»), do what I want, think over, bring up и stand in the way употреблены правильно.

When something happens that people don’t like, some of them exaggerate the problem by making generalisations. Avoid starting sentences with “You always,” and “You never,” as in, “You always come home late!” or, “You never do what I want to do!” Stop and think over whether or not this is really true. Also, don’t bring up past conflicts and stir up more negativity. This stands in the way of true conflict resolution, and increases the level of conflict.
