GOOD TELEPHONE ETIQUETTE When answering the phone or making phone calls, good telephone etiquette must be used to give callers a good impression of you and your company. ANSWERING THE PHONE Try to 'pick up / call back the phone within three rings (if possible) and always say your name when you answer. Learn to listen without interrupting but if you do have to 2hang the phone up / put the phone down, the hold button should be pressed so the caller, does not accidentally hear conversations with other people. TAKING OR LEAVING A MESSAGE If someone rings up/ holds on and the person they wish to speak to is not there, take a message and let the caller know when the person will be able to return the call. Alternatively, ask them if they want to leave a message on the voicemall before they thang up / wait on. Before, you speak up/ phone someone up, make sure you know what you want to say. If you have to leave a message for someone, the most important thing is to speak clearly and slowly. Be sure to leave your name and number so they can get back to pick up you. Keep messages short and cover one topic in one message, saying exactly what you want the person to do or let the person know the best time to ring you back.
