Простое, завершенное действие в прошлом. Используем Past Simple.
Ответ: She cooked yesterday.
2. She (to cook) at three o'clock yesterday.
Указано конкретное время в прошлом, значит, действие длилось. Используем Past Continuous.
Ответ: She was cooking at three o'clock yesterday.
3. She (to cook) from two till four yesterday.
Указан промежуток времени, значит, действие длилось. Используем Past Continuous.
Ответ: She was cooking from two till four yesterday.
4. I (not to read) at five o'clock.
Конкретное время в прошлом, когда действие не происходило. Используем Past Continuous.
Ответ: I was not reading at five o'clock.
5. I (not to read) when you came in.
Длительное действие (не читал) было прервано другим действием (ты вошел). Используем Past Continuous для первого и Past Simple для второго.
Ответ: I was not reading when you came in.
6. What he (to do) when I came?
Действие (что он делал) длилось, когда другое действие (я пришел) произошло. Используем Past Continuous для первого и Past Simple для второго.
Ответ: What was he doing when I came?
7. What he (to do) the whole day yesterday?
Действие длилось весь день. Используем Past Continuous.
Ответ: What was he doing the whole day yesterday?
8. Pete (to water) flowers in the garden yesterday.
Простое, завершенное действие в прошлом. Используем Past Simple.
Ответ: Pete watered flowers in the garden yesterday.
9. Pete (to water) flowers in the garden at five o'clock yesterday.
Конкретное время в прошлом, когда действие длилось. Используем Past Continuous.
Ответ: Pete was watering flowers in the garden at five o'clock yesterday.
10. What Pete (to do) when I came to see him?
Действие (что Пит делал) длилось, когда другое действие (я пришел) произошло. Используем Past Continuous для первого и Past Simple для второго.
