Решение:
При переводе прямой речи в косвенную меняется время глагола, местоимения и наречия времени/места.
- Mother said: "Don't touch his toys, David."
Это просьба или приказ. Приказывая кому-то что-то не делать, мы используем "told somebody not to do something".
Mother told David not to touch his toys. - Nonna said: "You took my textbook yesterday."
Здесь произошло два изменения времени: "took" (Past Simple) становится "had taken" (Past Perfect), а "yesterday" меняется на "the day before".
Nonna said that I had taken her textbook the day before. - They said: "Sammy will arrive by train tomorrow."
"Will" меняется на "would", а "tomorrow" на "the next day".
They said that Sammy would arrive by train the next day. - I asked: "Does she play the guitar?"
Это общий вопрос, который начинается с "if" или "whether". "Does play" (Present Simple) меняется на "played" (Past Simple).
I asked if she played the guitar. - She asked: "What is your favorite subject?"
Это специальный вопрос, который начинается с вопросительного слова "what". "Is" (Present Simple) меняется на "was" (Past Simple). "Your" меняется на "my".
She asked what my favorite subject was.
