The Obsidian Library

Once a wizard, the Librarian, found himself in a fantasy world. He blinked, dust motes swirling around his spectacles, and adjusted his robes. Where was he? Certainly not within the hallowed halls of the Grand Library of Alexandria, nor any place he recognized.

He was in the Obsidian Library, a realm of towering, black basalt cliffs that scraped the sky. The air shimmered with arcane energy, and the ground hummed with the echoes of ancient spells. The Librarian, a man named Elmsworth, with a penchant for cardigans and a surprising knowledge of obscure incantations, adjusted his spectacles once more. He was the protector of knowledge, the guardian of forgotten lore. His magic was subtle, but potent, born from the very books he cherished.

Suddenly, a guttural growl echoed through the cliffs. A monstrous Gorgon, scaled and serpentine, emerged from a crevice, its eyes blazing with malevolent intent. "You trespass on my domain, bookworm!" it hissed, its forked tongue flicking.

Elmsworth, never one to back down from a challenge, straightened his cardigan and raised his hands. "Indeed, I do! But I intend no harm. I merely wish to study the forgotten lore of this place!"

The Gorgon lunged, its claws glinting. Elmsworth, with a flick of his wrist, summoned forth shimmering shields of pure knowledge, deflecting the attack. "Knowledge is power, beast!" he exclaimed, drawing upon the energy of countless tomes. He then conjured a vortex of swirling pages, trapping the Gorgon within a tempest of words.

“I submit! I submit!” the Gorgon cried in terror.

Satisfied, Elmsworth released the beast, the vortex dispelled, and the pages returning to nothing. He stepped through the obsidian cliffs to continue his study of forgotten lore, as he began to document everything that was the Obsidian Library.
